Top News of the Week

For the "top news" assignment, here's what I want you to do:

STEP 1: Pay attention to the news of the week. Pick what you think is one of the most important news stories covered in the past week. (Remember, I don't count celebrity "news" as important news...unless it illustrates some larger, significant social trend.)

STEP 2: Write a short blog post on your top news story, noting where you read/saw/heard it (and linking to it if it's available online). Briefly explain why you think it's an important story.

STEP 3: Also be sure to note which news values make your story newsworthy.

Each "Top News" blog post is worth up to 15 points. Each should be 2-3 paragraphs long. As always, grammar, spelling and AP style count. Please proof your work before posting it on your blog.
