Please take required courses in the recommended order.

REQUIRED:

JOUR 133: News Editing & MGMT
Tip: Take this one as early as possible — it will help you succeed in all the others. Must take before Spartan Daily or Access.

JOUR 132-C: Magazine Reporting
The “C” section concentrates on magazine writing and reporting; “A” and “B” are for newspaper and broadcast students. Take before JOUR 153.
Pre-req: Jour 61.

JOUR 153: Magazine Writing and Editing
This course has been revamped to cover how magazines are put together. Take before Access (JOUR 155).
Pre-req: JOUR 132-C.

JOUR 155: Magazine Editing and Production (Access)
Make your student magazine. Back-to-back sections are scheduled, but you’ll only use the second section as needed.
Pre-reqs: JOUR 133 and JOUR 153.

RECOMMENDED ELECTIVES:

JOUR 136: Newspaper & Mag. Design
Great course to take before joining the staff of Access.

MCOM 139: Special Topics
Writing Reviews (Fall only)
Learn to review your favorite rock bands, movie stars and artists. Meets just once a week, so we’ll have time to see stuff.
